Around 159 bunkhouse units are about to be completed in time for Christmas, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Almost 3,800 families in Eastern Visayas will seek refuge in these units.
The DPWH is also conducting repair and restoration of 19 school buildings in Tacloban City which were damaged by super typhoon Yolanda.
“I commend our men and women for their dedication to service and sacrifice who immediately moved into action in the clearing operations of our national roads that was blocked by debris, fallen trees, and garbage caused by super typhoon Yolanda”, said DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson in a statement.
The hauling of debris and garbage at Daang Maharlika Highway from San Juanico to Imelda Villages likewise continues.
