President Noynoy Aquino named Major General Hernando Iriberri as the new Philippine Army Chief, Friday.
Iriberri succeeded retired Lieutenant General Noel Coballes.
During the turnover, the new chief vowed to continue modernizing the army’s facilities and better benefits for soldiers.
“Any decision I make therefore will resonate the integrity of our whole organization. With me at the helm, we will continue to make the army trooper the pleasant face of the professional soldier our country deserves and a saving hand and for anyone trapped or taken away by disaster we will cont to rise to any challenge and meet our duty to defend our country and people,” said Iriberri.
Aquino meanwhile praised Coballes for his contributions in improving the Philippine Army and hopes that the new Army Chief will capitalize on this momentum.
