Besides linking the North and South Luzon Expressways, the Stage 3 of the Metro Manila Skyway will cut travel time and employ 18,000 persons.
President Benigno Aquino III made this announcement on Wednesday, during the launch of the P26.7-billion infrastructure project.
"Makakapaghatid ang proyektong ito ng halos 6,000 na direktang trabaho, at karagdagang 10 hanggang 12 libong indirect jobs sa panahon ng konstruksyon,” Aquino said in his speech.
(This project will create nearly 6,000 jobs and 10,000 to 12,000 indirect jobs while this is being built.)
From the Buendia Interchange, the Skyway will be connected to NLEX Balintawak-EDSA interchange and will reduce the travel time from 2 hours to 20 minutes.
It will be divided into three portions—from Buendia through Gil Puyat bridge flyover to Nagtahan; Nagtahan to Aurora Boulevard; and from Aurora Boulevard through Gregorio Araneta Avenue, Quezon Avenue, Sergeant Rivera Avenue, Bonifacio Avenue, all the way to Balintawak-EDSA interchange.
The project is expected to be completed by 2017, but its developer—a unit of San Miguel Corp.—will try to finish it by June 2016, when President Aquino finishes his term.
